Position OverviewA global professional services organization is seeking an experienced M&A Consultant who is a Chartered Accountant based in the Maharashtra region of India. This full time consulting role supports a major business transformation following a recent acquisition. The consultant will support financial integration activities, assist with statutory compliance workstreams, contribute to payroll accounting processes, and project manage select financial tasks. This hybrid position includes remote work and requires on-site presence.
Responsibilities - Supporting financial due diligence tasks and post-acquisition integration activities
- Coordinating the financial transition of the acquired entity into global systems, controls, and reporting frameworks
- Supporting payroll accounting processes, including data validation and statutory payroll compliance activities
- Assisting with statutory compliance workstream, including GST, TDS, corporate tax, MCA filings, and audit preparation
- Supporting general ledger activities, including reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and month-end close tasks
- Contributing to the preparation of financial statements in alignment with Indian Accounting Standards and global reporting guidelines, subject to client review and approval
- Assisting with the evaluation of internal controls and supporting recommended enhancements
- Project managing assigned financial integration tasks, including planning, tracking, coordination, and documentation
- Supporting transformation initiatives related to automation, process redesign, and operational improvements
- Coordinating with auditors, tax advisors, and government authorities as required
- Preparing financial analyse,s including cash flow reports, forecasting inputs, and variance analysis under client oversight
- Providing regular status updates to client leadership regarding the progress of M&A integration activities
- Maintaining accurate documentation, workpapers, and project artifacts throughout all phases of the engagement
Required Qualification(s) - Chartered Accountant qualification in India
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with M&A, financial integration, or corporate finance
- Strong knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards, GST, TDS, MCA, and other statutory requirements
- Experience supporting payroll accounting and statutory payroll compliance in India
- Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to manage timelines and deliverables
- Strong English communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work independently within a consulting framework without taking client approval authority
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multicultural and global teams
Preferred Qualification(s) - Experience supporting cross-border acquisitions or global M&A programs
- Experience within multinational companies or professional services organizations
- Familiarity with IFRS or US GAAP reporting environments
- Experience with process improvement and financial automation tools
- Strong ability to coordinate stakeholders and support structured project workstreams
DurationThis is a project-based consulting opportunity beginning immediately with an initial duration through the end of 2026, with the possibility of extending.
