Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Commercial Account Underwriter to join our Commercial Lines Team. In this role, you will process new business applications and manage our Excess & Surplus Lines book of business. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with customer service experience and commercial insurance experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process new business applications and issuance of insurance policies
- Oversee Excess & Surplus Lines book handling all policies renewals
- Working with underwriters to address Loss Control Recommendations
- Handle customer service requests, policy adjustments, and payment processing
- Explain coverage details and assist clients with claim questions
- Maintain regular communication with assigned clients to understand and address their needs
- Respond to complaints and resolve issues to ensure customer satisfaction and protect the company’s reputation
- Collaborate with Account Executives and insurance carriers to process changes, endorsements, and premium adjustments
- Issue certificates of insurance and process renewals and remarkets as needed
- Complete all service requests and necessary insurance applications accurately and efficiently
- Provide support to Account Executives to assure new business opportunities are won
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in account management, underwriting, or customer service preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem-solving skills and initiative
- Eagerness to learn and expand knowledge of commercial insurance
- Positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented attitude
- Basic understanding of insurance concepts (commercial insurance a plus)
