Position Summary
The Sign Production Graphic Artist is responsible for preparing accurate, production-ready artwork for all types of custom signage. This role bridges design and manufacturing by ensuring all files meet material, routing, printing, and installation requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Production Setup
- Create and modify artwork for:
- Channel letters (face-lit, reverse, and halo-lit)
- ADA-compliant signs
- Dimensional letters and logos
- Vehicle graphics and wraps
- Banners, window graphics, and vinyl decals
- Monument and pylon sign layouts
- Set up print-ready and router-ready files (bleeds, overlaps, contour cuts, drill patterns).
- Vectorize customer logos and artwork as needed.
- Prepare layered files for fabrication, installation, and permitting submittals.
Production Coordination
- Work closely with Sales, Production, and Install teams.
- Review work orders for accuracy before production.
- Ensure correct sizing, materials, mounting methods, and code compliance.
- Prepare proofs for client approval.
- Revise artwork based on client feedback and project changes.
- Maintain file naming and digital job organization standards.
Quality Control
- Verify spelling, layout, sizing, and color accuracy.
- Ensure ADA spacing, braille, and contrast requirements are met.
- Catch design or production errors before fabrication.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a sign shop or large-format printing environment (preferred).
- Expert knowledge of:
- Adobe Illustrator (required)
- Adobe Photoshop (required)
- Adobe InDesign (a plus)
- Strong understanding of:
- Vector vs raster artwork
- Bleeds, trims, contour cuts
- Vinyl plotting, large-format printing, and CNC routing
- Ability to read work orders and construction drawings.
- Basic understanding of materials:
- ACM (Dibond), PVC, Acrylic, Aluminum
- Vinyl (cast vs calendared)
- Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects.
