Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team. In this role, you will collaborate with the R&D team to design and implement scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power innovative data solutions. This role is specific to our Genomics and Metabolomics areas. You will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making within the organization.
What You’ll Do:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable, efficient solutions aligned with business objectives.
Design, develop, and maintain robust, secure, and high-performance data pipelines and infrastructure using modern cloud technologies.
Architect and document normalized relational and star database schemas, creating Entity-Relationship Diagrams to visualize data structures and relationships.
Lead the end-to-end data ingestion and transformation processes, ensuring data quality, integrity, and availability.
Build and maintain curated datasets and custom reporting solutions to support analytics, business intelligence, and operational needs.
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in data architecture, tooling, and workflows.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices in data engineering.
What Skills You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Computational Sciences, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
6–8 years of experience in data engineering or related field.
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
Proficiency in OLTP and OLAP data modeling techniques and experience documenting database designs using Entity-Relationship Diagrams.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including S3, ECS, Lambda, Redshift, Glue, and CloudFormation.
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with modern data warehousing solutions.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex stakeholder requirements into scalable data solutions.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Advanced Python programming skills, including experience with frameworks such as Django or Flask.
Experience with CI/CD automation and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Step Functions, Dagster).
Familiarity with data science concepts, including machine learning, statistical analysis, and data preprocessing.
Experience working with genomics, metabolomics, or chemistry fields.
