Overview:
The Procurement Business Analyst is a critical role that connects procurement operations, data analytics, and strategic business objectives. This individual transforms raw procurement data into actionable insights that drive cost savings, mitigate risk, and optimize the procure-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle. Responsibilities include analyzing complex datasets, identifying spending trends, monitoring supplier performance, and supporting strategic sourcing initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled at communicating complex information to diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Develop and maintain procurement dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to track KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance, contract compliance, and spend under management.
- Perform in-depth analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities, sourcing efficiencies, and supplier consolidation.
Strategic Sourcing & Category Support:
- Provide analytical support for RFP, RFQ, and RFI processes, including evaluation of supplier bids and total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Conduct market research to identify supplier trends, commodity price fluctuations, and potential risks, delivering actionable insights to category managers.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze and map procurement processes (e.g., requisitioning, purchasing, invoicing) to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
- Collaborate with IT and business units to gather requirements and implement enhancements to procurement systems (e.g., ERP, P2P platforms).
Supplier & Contract Management:
- Develop and monitor supplier performance scorecards to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and performance targets.
- Analyze contract compliance, identify off-contract spending, and work with stakeholders to improve adherence to preferred supplier agreements.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary analytical partner for procurement, finance, and key business departments.
- Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical audiences to support decision-making.
Skills and Knowledge
Required:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Data Science, or related field.
- Experience: 3-5+ years in a business analyst, data analyst, or procurement role.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling).
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Familiarity with ERP or P2P systems (SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba).
- Experience managing large datasets and applying data management best practices.
Preferred:
- Background in manufacturing, electronics, or technology environments.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, IIBA-PBA).
- Strong project management skills.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or data analytics.
