Position Summary
The Development Associate serves as a staff member at will of the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN). The Development Associate supports the Development Team in executing fundraising events, forming community relationships, managing in-kind donations and database maintenance, and collaborating on marketing materials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Priority 1: Development Team Support
- Engage with local businesses, community organizations, faith-based groups, etc., to generate monetary donations, in-kind donations and volunteer support for SPAN’s fundraising events, and holiday gift drives for clients and general purposes.
- Provide logistical support for SPAN fundraising and community engagement events. This includes attending Chamber events regularly and playing an active role in community outreach.
- Attend community networking events representing and promoting SPAN from a Development fundraising lens.
- Engage with local rotaries/sororities/fraternities and volunteers.
- Continuously update our website.
* Priority 2: Donor Data Management
- Maintain SPAN’s donor contact database with routine and accurate data entry and research.
- Manage and maintain our Salesforce donor database and print reports for data.
- Update verbiage on all acknowledgements with updated stats and fresh engaging verbiage on printed, as well as email acknowledgement platforms.
- Manage data entry of solicited auction items in auction item database for annual fundraising gala.
* Priority 3: Social Media
- Creates social media material, posts regularly across platforms, and tracks engagement.
- Create engaging videos for social media and the website.
* Priority 4: Collaboration
- Collaborates with the Development Team members.
- Participates in staff meetings and team meetings.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other assistance, as designated by the Development Director, to support the overall goals of the department and organization. SPAN retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises departmental vendors including ad agencies to ensure SPAN is front and center in the community.
Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities: Acts as a good steward of SPAN’s resources.
Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this position requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of SPAN and its clients.
Contact with Others: This position will interact with staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE
Education: 4-year degree in Human Services or Communications preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience: Requires minimum of 2 years’ experience in administrative support in fundraising, marketing or communications. Experience with donor databases and social media platforms is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office are necessary; Salesforce or other database experience preferred.
Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner, and gender-based violence, and racial, class, gender, and sexual orientation issues strongly preferred. Requires excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a multi-task environment with changing priorities based on projects and event deadlines. Must be able to work as part of a team.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean driving record and access to reliable transportation with Colorado mandated insurance required.

Mobility necessary to perform a variety of tasks that involve intermittent standing, walking/traversing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting, occasionally climbing stairs or using an elevator, and possibly reaching chest high andoverhead for materials.
Ability to reach for, move and/or lift up to 15 pounds and the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, including frequent repetitive movement such as extended periods of keyboarding and filing.

Pay: $51,500.00 - $54,000.00 per year
