Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer specializing in Forensics and Product Design to join our innovative team. Forensic Responsibilities:
- Investigate and reconstruct accidents involving motor vehicles, commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, pedestrians, bicycles, ATVs, etc.
- Perform vehicle, site and/or evidence inspections using survey equipment and 3D laser scanning technology
- Conduct testing of components or failed materials and analyze data
- Download or image data from vehicle “data recorder” systems and analyze the data
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplined team providing peer review of investigations and reports or assistance with other projects
- Provide verbal and/or technical written reports to outline the cause of the incident, loss or failure
- Provide expert testimony regarding conclusions in arbitration, mediation, deposition or trial settings
- Retention and development of client relationships
Must be honest and provide objective and unbiased expert forensic analysis based on scientific principles and the evidence or information provided/collected. Analytical skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are required for this position, however, you must also be able to work well in a team environment.
Product Design Responsibilities:
- Active participation on projects including: design, review, analysis, costing, testing and documentation.
- Perform research, evaluation, technical approach development, estimating and proposal writing for potential new program opportunities (RFPs).
- Prepare and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, layouts and other visual aids.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate new technologies.
- Prepare, evaluate and interpret technical specifications.
- Design, develop, evaluate and improve products, processes and methods to meet customer requirements and specifications.
- Assist with project, budget and schedule issues.
- Act as a liaison between engineering design and manufacturing organizations.
- Prepare and deliver presentations/reports to management, engineering staff and/or client as required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Previous project lead experience, or a demonstration of the desire and competency to develop project lead skills and experience.
- Detailed knowledge of current design, engineering and manufacturing concepts and technologies.
- Ability to grasp modern technology readily.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Good organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Mechanical (hands-on) knowledge of vehicle systems and automotive components preferred.
- Prior accident reconstruction/forensic experience is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of optical systems a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and conducting internet-based research.
- Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software, engineering design, testing, and technical documentation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Minors or dual degrees in complementary disciplines such as Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, etc. a plus
- 3-5 years work experience preferred
- PE License (or desire to acquire PE License) preferred
- Must be a US Citizen

Pay: $72,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
