Project Engineer - Electrical
Position Summary:
In support of the Company’s primary and single most important objective which is TO GET AND KEEP PROFITABLE CUSTOMERS, this individual is responsible for the design of low voltage power distribution, motor control, PLC control, and network design aspects of SAMCO's custom water, wastewater, and process separation solutions for industry. Successes of the position are measured via the following key indicators:
- Timely and accurate completion of electrical designs for projects
- Successful coordination of design efforts with process engineering and programming teams
- Compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL 508A
- Development and maintenance of SAMCO's electrical design standards and best practices
Position Responsibilities:
- Development of one-line diagrams and network architecture
- Specification of control hardware, including PLC components, HMIs, VFDs, and network components
- Creation of PLC-based control panel and low voltage motor starter panel wiring schematics, panel layout drawings, and bills of materials, either directly or by supervision of in-house or outsourced design resources
- Raceway/cable sizing and routing
- Coordination with project process engineering and programming teams to provide a complete and functional system
- Support purchasing and manufacturing activities related to panel and assembly construction
- Perform or support factory acceptance testing and troubleshooting
- Support field service team during system commissioning and startup, which may include remote or on-site work
- Development and refinement of SAMCO standards and documentation of best practices related to electrical and control system design
- Travel requirements: < 25%
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in electrical engineering
- Proficiency in schematic drafting with AutoCAD (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of motor power and control circuit design
- Expertise in PLC-based control hardware specification and power/control/signal circuit design
- Experience in industrial networking design and specification (Ethernet, Profinet)
- Familiarity with the application of NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL 508A to process equipment control systems
- Hands-on experience with wiring, testing, and troubleshooting low voltage power and control wiring for process systems
- Experience with PLC program troubleshooting and development
- Follow other job-related instructions and perform other tasks as requested

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
