Controls Engineer
We have an immediate opening for a Controls Engineer. This is a full-time, on-site role at Slick Automated Solutions in Mansfield, OH.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop control systems for automated equipment and machinery, including researching system requirements and specifying necessary hardware and software components.
- Software implementation: Write and implement control logic and software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- System integration: Integrate new and existing hardware and software to ensure all system components function together seamlessly.
- Testing and validation: Conduct rigorous system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure reliability, functionality, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Process improvement: Analyze system performance and identify opportunities to optimize automated processes for increased efficiency and productivity.
- Technical documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, such as electrical schematics, operating manuals, and design specifications.
- Installation and commissioning: Participate in the installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and systems at client or company sites.
- Technical support: Provide ongoing technical support and expertise to production, maintenance, and other engineering teams.
Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering, preferred
- Control systems: Deep knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Software and programming: Proficiency with industry-standard software for programming PLCs (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMIs (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Ignition).
- CAD: Expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, to create electrical schematics and panel designs.
- Networking: Understanding of industrial networking protocols like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus.
- Electrical design: Knowledge of industrial control panel design, electrical codes (e.g., NEC, UL508A), and power distribution.
- Safety systems: Familiarity with machine safety applications and regulations.

- Problem-solving: Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors.
- Attention to detail: A high level of precision is necessary when working with complex systems, where small errors can have significant consequences.
- Project management: The ability to plan, prioritize, and manage project deliverables to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and to adapt to new technologies.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
