We are a well-established e-commerce company operating a public online marketplace that works with auto salvage yards, used-parts vendors, and automotive suppliers nationwide. Our business involves high transaction volume, customer refunds, chargebacks, vendor credits, and detailed financial reconciliation.
We are seeking a high-integrity, detail-driven Controller to oversee refunds, chargebacks, vendor reconciliation, and financial controls. This is a part-time role with required in-office presence (minimum 1–2 days per week) in the Kansas City metro area, with office locations in Kansas City, MO and Overland Park, KS (flexible based on candidate location).

Experience with automotive, used parts, salvage yards, or marketplace businesses is a strong advantage, as it helps with understanding returns, disputes, and vendor behavior — but it is not required for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Approve and execute customer refunds and credits
- Manage, dispute, and resolve chargebacks and payment disputes
- Work directly with Stripe, PayPal, Affirm, and banking partners
- Ensure every financial transaction is tied to a valid order number, reason, and supporting documentation
- Reconcile transactions between payment processors, order systems, and accounting records
- Reconcile vendor invoices, returns, credits, and recoveries
- Track vendor-related financial exposure and outstanding credits
- Produce weekly summary reports covering refunds, disputes, exceptions, and reconciliations
- Maintain strong internal controls, audit trails, and financial discipline
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or controller-level roles
- Strong understanding of fiduciary responsibility and internal controls
- Experience with payment processors and dispute management
- Highly detail-oriented, structured, and process-driven
- Comfortable enforcing policies and pushing back with customers, vendors, and internal teams when needed
- Experience in automotive, used parts, salvage, or marketplace environments is a major plus
- Based in or near Kansas City and able to work in-office part-time
