Emerging Companies & Venture Capital
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati is seeking a 4–8 year ECVC Associate to join its nationally recognized Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) practice. This role supports continued growth across the firm’s technology and life sciences platforms.
Job Summary
The Associate will lead and manage sophisticated transactional matters and serve as a key advisor to founders, executives, boards, venture capital firms, and institutional investors. The position offers hands-on responsibility across the full lifecycle of high-growth companies, from formation through financing, M&A, and exit.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise company-side and investor-side clients on emerging company matters
- Lead and manage SAFE and preferred stock financings
- Support seed through later-stage venture financings
- Handle M&A transactions and strategic corporate matters
- Advise on corporate governance and board matters
- Work directly with founders, management teams, and investors
Must-Have Qualifications
- 4–8 years of corporate law experience
- Strong focus on Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) and/or M&A
- Currently practicing at an Am Law 50 firm
- Demonstrated experience leading or significantly running transactions
- Hands-on experience with:
- SAFEs
- Preferred stock financings
- Corporate governance
- JD from a Top 30 law school with strong academic credentials
- Active bar membership (or eligibility to waive in)
- Ability to meet in-office requirements for San Francisco or New York
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $310,000 – $435,000 annually
- Bonus eligibility consistent with top-tier Am Law 50 compensation
- Compensation aligned with experience, deal leadership, and market
Location & Schedule
- Locations: San Francisco or New York
- Hybrid work model
In-office requirements:
- San Francisco: 2 days per week
- New York: Tuesday–Thursday (3 days per week)
Office placement:
- SF-designated roles may sit in San Francisco or New York
- NY-designated roles must sit in New York
