Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer, specializing in stormwater management, to join our growing team. In this role, you will promote, design, analyze, and support the application of metal culvert stormwater systems for highway, railway, municipal, and land development projects. You will aid and regularly interact with our vast customer base which includes private and consulting engineering firms, state department of transportation design and materials departments, and local highway departments. The candidate will provide practical manufacturing guidance ensuring our products meet hydraulic, structural, and regulatory requirements of projects while optimizing performance and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- HydraulicStructural Design: Perform culvert sizing, inlet/outlet control analysis, and stormwater system designs. Ensure compliance with AASHTO, ASTM, and local stormwater standards.
- Product Application Engineering: Develop custom solutions using corrugated metal pipe, spiral rib pipe, box culverts, and structural plate for diverse applications (e.g., stream crossings, detention/retention systems, roadway drainage, and buried bridges).
- Technical Support: Collaborate with sales, project managers, and external engineers to provide design submittals, shop drawings, and value-engineering alternatives.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize systems such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, HydroCad, or Bentley tools to produce detailed layouts, profiles, and 3D models of culvert installations.
- FieldRegulatory Coordination: Review site plans, geotechnical reports, and permitting requirements. Conduct occasional site visits to verify installation conditions.
- InnovationDocumentation: Contribute to R&D for new coatings and sustainable stormwater products. Prepare technical notes, case studies, and lunch-and-learn presentations to promote the use of corrugated metal pipe products .
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license a positive, but not required
- Experience:
- 3–7 years in stormwater/drainage design, preferably with culverts or pipe systems.
- Hands-on experience with stormwater products a strong positive
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
- Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, ASTM, and AREMA standards.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication (written/oral), teamwork, and problem-solving. Ability to translate complex designs into clear contractor guidance.
- Ability to work independently to develop customer relationships from a home-based office
