Job Description
The Minor League Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for executing the Colorado Rockies’ performance nutrition strategy across all Minor League affiliates. This role focuses on operational excellence, consistency, and logistical execution—ensuring players at every affiliate have access to appropriate fueling at home and on the road.
Working closely with the Major League Performance Dietitian, local clubhouse staff, and external vendors, this position manages food ordering, meal coordination, and on-site nutrition support throughout the Minor League system. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a travel-heavy, fast-paced environment.
This position will be based in Scottsdale, AZ with travel required throughout the season.
Responsibilities
Minor League Nutrition Execution
- Implement and maintain standardized nutrition programs across all Minor League affiliates and our Academy in the Dominican Republic.
- Ensure consistent execution of organizational nutrition standards at each affiliate.
- Support player fueling needs appropriate to developmental level, schedule, and travel demands.
- Lead and manage nutrition fellows who may be assigned at some affiliate locations.
Food Ordering & Logistics
- Manage all Minor League food ordering for home games and road trips using EZ Cater and other approved platforms.
- Coordinate with local clubhouse managers and staff to ensure timely delivery, setup, and quality control of meals.
- Troubleshoot logistical issues related to food service, vendors, and scheduling.
Travel & On-Site Support
- Travel to Minor League affiliate locations and the DR Academy as needed to support nutrition operations, audits, and education.
- Support nutrition operations during Spring Training in Scottsdale, AZ.
- Assist with road-trip planning and execution for Minor League teams.
Collaboration & Education
- Partner with strength & conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, and player development staff to support player health and readiness.
- Assist with the delivery of basic nutrition education resources and messaging developed by the Major League Performance Dietitian.
- Serve as a consistent point of contact for nutrition-related questions at the affiliate level.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Exercise Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in sports nutrition, operations, or a related performance environment.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple teams, locations, and schedules.
- Proficiency with ordering platforms (e.g., EZ Cater) and standard office software.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Willingness to travel frequently, including Spring Training and affiliate visits.
Preferred
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) or RD-eligible.
- Experience working in professional or collegiate baseball.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
WORK SCHEDULE
This position requires a high level of flexibility and availability consistent with the demands of a Minor League Baseball season, including extended hours, travel, and non-traditional schedules, within a dynamic, performance-driven environment where schedules are fluid, and flexibility is essential to supporting player health, readiness, and competitive success. Consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance is a key requirement of this role.
- Spring Training (Scottsdale, AZ): Monday through Sunday, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Schedule includes daily on-site work, games, and frequent road or day trips to nearby Spring Training facilities.
- Minor League Regular Season (Scottsdale, AZ & Travel): Monday through Sunday, including home games, road trips, holidays, evenings, and weekends. Extensive travel to all Minor League Affiliate locations and DR Academy is required throughout the season, including overnight and multi-city road trips. The game schedule and team needs dictate work hours and may vary significantly week to week.
- Off-Season: Generally Monday through Friday; however, evening and weekend availability is required as needed to support player programming, planning meetings, training oversight, and organizational initiatives.
Physical Job Requirements
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced professional baseball environment, including clubhouses, training facilities, stadiums, and travel settings.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, particularly during meal service, team activities, meetings, and on-field or facility-based work.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull food items, supplies, and equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motions associated with food service setup, organization, and operational tasks.
- Ability to travel frequently by car, plane, and other means, including short-notice and multi-day travel during Spring Training, the championship season, and affiliate visits.
- Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the baseball schedule.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with players, coaches, medical staff, vendors, and clubhouse personnel in both individual and group settings.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor facilities and exposure to varying temperatures.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual Salary: $70,000 to $85,000
- This full-time position is eligible for the Club’s benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, game tickets, employee discounts, and other benefits according to plan eligibility.
