Position Summary
The Data Engineering Manager leads a team of data engineers responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and architecture across the organization. This role partners closely with analytics, product, and IT teams to ensure data is accessible, reliable, secure, and aligned with business goals. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership skills to drive data strategy and delivery.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers through coaching, goal setting, and performance management.
Build a high performing team culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Manage resourcing, hiring, onboarding, and workload prioritization.
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Establish and enforce data engineering best practices, including coding standards, testing, and version control.
Partner with data architects to define and evolve data models and data platform architecture.
Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of data systems.
Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices for data pipelines.
Drive optimization of data processes to improve cost, performance, and efficiency.
Collaborate with analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, product, and engineering teams to understand data needs.
Translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards across all data assets.
Contribute to long-term data strategy, platform modernization, and cloud migration initiatives.
Evaluate emerging technologies and tools to enhance the data ecosystem.
Align engineering efforts with organizational objectives and roadmap priorities.

Work Environment
This position performs its duties from our Orange, CA office. This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, mobile devices, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Requirements
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to type, scroll and use computer equipment. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection of text/data in both print and electronic forms. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. Days/hours worked are dependent on the workload at the time. General availability and presence in the office are expected during regular business hours Monday-Friday. However, some flexibility is allowed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
There is no major travel requirement for this position. However, infrequent travel may be necessary to visit remote office(s), attend conferences/industry events, etc. Attendance at our corporate Staff Retreat is required. This event is a 2-3-day retreat. Attendance at our annual User Conference as assigned.
Salary Range
The salary range is $150,000.00-$170,000.00 annually. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
5–8+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
2–4+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams.
Strong expertise with modern data technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka).
Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and distributed systems.
Handson experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
