About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Tooling Specialist to champion process optimization and cost-reduction initiatives within our metal forming operations. In this role, you'll leverage your deep expertise in cutting tool technologies to enhance plant production, drive continuous improvement, and resolve complex machining challenges across diverse equipment. Your ability to communicate effectively and manage projects will be crucial to your success.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead continuous improvement projects focused on enhancing quality, boosting productivity, and reducing costs, adhering to established testing protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing, to ensure seamless communication and resolution of tooling-related issues.
- Maintain and update technical tooling documentation, including tool layouts and drawings, using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Provide expert support to plant tool presetting operations, ensuring accuracy, organization, and adherence to best practices.
- Employ problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques to resolve machining issues, optimizing cycle time and tool life.
- Work closely with tooling manufacturers and integration partners on new projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and unexpected machining events to improve outcomes.
- Mentor tooling and manufacturing engineers at the plant level, sharing knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in the manufacturing industry, with a strong emphasis on machining.
- In-depth knowledge of cutting tools, manufacturing processes, and CNC machining equipment.
- Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and complete large projects, with exceptional planning and prioritization skills.
- High level of analytical ability to solve unusual and complex problems.
- Experience with CNC machine troubleshooting.
