Location: Crystal Lake, IL (Serving Northern Illinois)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Compensation: $80,000+ (based on experience)

The Role
- We’re hiring an experienced Septic System Designer to support our growing installation division.This role is for someone who understands Illinois onsite wastewater regulations and can take a project from:Soil evaluationSystem designDrawings & documentationPermitting supportFrom start to finish.You will work closely with operations, installers, and local health departments to design systems that are code-compliant, practical to install, and built to last.
Responsibilities
- Conduct or coordinate soil evaluations and site assessments
- Design septic systems in compliance with Illinois code
- Size systems based on bedrooms, GPD, and site conditions
- Design conventional, chamber, and ATU-based systems
- Create layout drawings for permitting and installation
- Prepare documentation for health department approvals
- Coordinate with county inspectors and regulators
- Provide technical support to installation teams
- Assist in troubleshooting design challenges in the field
Requirements
- 5+ years designing septic systems in Illinois
- Deep understanding of Illinois onsite wastewater code
- Experience with:
- Soil testing / site evaluation
- System sizing
- Layout & design drawings
- Permitting process
- Familiarity with:
- Gravity systems
- Pressure systems
- ATUs
- Chamber vs gravel systems
- Ability to design systems that are both code-compliant and buildable
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
Preferred
- Licensed Soil Classifier or equivalent experience
- Experience working directly with county health departments
- Familiarity with CAD or septic design software
