Benefits Analyst
Summary
This position is classified as in-office and requires candidates to reside locally. While work-from-home arrangements may be approved, office attendance is required for team meetings. Relocation assistance is not provided.
Work Location
This role will begin in Ventura, CA with a planned office relocation to Westlake Village, CA later in 2026.
The Benefits Analyst supports Account Managers and Consultants by conducting data analysis, managing plan administration tasks, and helping ensure accurate, timely delivery of benefits services. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and manage complex benefits, enrollment and billing information. The Benefits Analyst works closely with internal teams, vendors, and clients to support smooth day-to-day benefits operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Data and Reporting
- Analyze claims, enrollment, and demographic data to identify trends and support client decision-making
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and data summaries for internal leadership or client groups
- Maintain accurate and updated benefits data across multiple systems
- Support audits, data integrity checks, and reconciliation processes
Benefits Administration
- Assist with the setup, maintenance, and administration of benefit plans, including document/data collection, carrier setup, and configuration in agency management systems
- Support annual Open Enrollment, including testing, data loads/checks, and communications.
- Prepare benefit comparison spreadsheets, reporting templates, and client-facing communications
- Reconcile invoices, verify billing accuracy, and manage adjustments across multiple carriers
Billing and Reconciliation
- Reconcile monthly carrier invoices and identify discrepancies.
- Work with carriers and payroll teams to correct billing or enrollment issues.
- Track credits, adjustments, and retroactive updates.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Assist with compliance activities (ACA reporting, ERISA notices, audits, etc.).
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and records to support consistent and compliant processes.
- Handle confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
- Review plan documents, evidence of coverage, and carrier materials for accuracy, rates, benefits, eligibility, and coverage definitions
Member and Client Support
- Research and resolve benefits‑related questions.
- Assist in preparing employee communications and benefits guides.
- Provide support during onboarding for benefits-related processes.
- Meet internal and client service deadlines consistently
- Handle sensitive client information with professionalism and discretion (HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, etc.)
- Support special projects such as open enrollment, health fairs, and client communications
- Participate in team meetings, both in-person and virtually
- Client communications regarding data requests, billing questions, and enrollment issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Math, Statistics, Business, Data Analytics, or related field
- 2–3 years of experience in benefits administration, analytics, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail with ability to manage critical tasks timely and accurately
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, etc.), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience with reporting tools, dashboards, or statistical software
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize multiple projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset; comfortable collaborating to solve problems
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve issues effectively
Preferred:
- Experience with large-group benefits administration (working with insurance carriers, TPAs, or benefits consulting firms). Familiarity with labor unions or public sector clients
- Familiarity with carrier portals for eligibility/billing submission

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
