Housing.Cloud builds software universities use to run student housing. Our platform handles roommate matching, housing assignments, and the logistics of moving thousands of students into buildings each year. When housing selection opens, large numbers of students are interacting with the system at once, so reliability and good architecture matter.
Our stack is TypeScript end to end: Next.js, React, tRPC, Postgres.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working on real product problems and already builds in an AI-native way. Tools like Cursor, Claude, etc. should already be part of how you work.
What you’d work on
• Building product features across the stack (Next.js, React, TypeScript)
• Designing APIs and backend systems with tRPC
• Building reliable background jobs and async workflows
• Working with queues, event processing, and distributed tasks
• Shipping fast iterations based on real customer feedback
Examples of problems we work on
• Processing large housing assignment runs without slowing down the system
• Designing event-driven flows for housing selection, room changes, and waitlists
• Handling bursts of traffic when selection windows open
• Building internal tools that help housing teams manage thousands of residents
What we’re looking for
• Strong React and modern TypeScript experience
• Comfortable working across frontend and backend
• Experience with Next.js or similar frameworks
• Familiarity with queues, background jobs, or event-driven systems
• Someone who already relies heavily on AI tools while coding
• Engineers who like shipping quickly and owning outcomes
Nice to have
• tRPC experience
• Startup experience
• Experience designing async or distributed systems
Work setup

Benefits
• Competitive salary based on experience
• Health insurance
• Good dental coverage
• Flexible work setup
• Small team where you can have a real impact on the product
