We are a Design-Build firm specializing in thoughtful remodels of Portland’s older homes — from kitchens and baths to whole-house renovations. Our work is guided by four core values: we are passionate experts, we safeguard client happiness, we do what we say, and we share responsibility.
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Design Assistant to support our design team and keep projects moving smoothly from concept through construction. This is a key behind-the-scenes team member focused on accuracy, coordination, and follow-through.
Description:
The Design Assistant supports the Lead Designer by maintaining the design pipeline, verifying selections and documentation, coordinating procurement, and ensuring projects are fully prepared for construction. You will serve as a second set of eyes — catching details and preventing issues before they reach the field.
Responsibilities:
· Manage & develop drawings in Chief Architect under supervision and direction of Lead Designer.
· Assist in entering and verifying fixture and finish information in BuilderTrend software.
· Assist with trade contractor bid procurement and project estimating.
· Ensure accurate entry of purchase orders for all design related purchases.
· Order, manage, and track finish goods for production.
· Assist with sample and material errands, ordering, and delivery.
· Assist with new product research.
· Assist with incoming lead inquiries as needed.
· Assist in client-facing meetings as needed.
Skills & Experience:
· Highly organized with strong attention to detail
· Proactive, dependable, and systems-minded
· Curious team player
· Clear written and verbal communicator
· Able to manage multiple priorities without losing accuracy
· Exhibits passion and excitement over work. Has a can-do attitude.
· Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred
· NKBA involvement/certification a plus
· Drafting/Chief Architect experience required
· 0-3 years of industry experience. Compensation based on experience.
20-30 hours/week to start, working toward full time.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys precision, organization, and ensuring every detail is buttoned up before construction begins. If you take pride in accuracy and love supporting great design from behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.
