Design Outdoor Environments That Become Reality
At GRO, we don’t just install landscapes-we create outdoor environments that elevate how people live. Our work ranges from refined residential landscapes to complex outdoor living spaces designed to complement the architecture and lifestyle of each property.
We are seeking a Landscape Designer who is both creative and practical-someone who enjoys turning ideas into clear, buildable designs that help bring projects to life.
Unlike traditional design firms where drawings stay on paper, GRO designers see their work move from concept to construction, collaborating closely with sales teams, project managers, and field crews throughout the entire project lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to grow their design skills while gaining real-world experience in how projects are sold and built. Depending on experience, this role will work under the supervision of GRO’s Licensed Landscape Architect, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities for individuals pursuing licensure.
Who You Are
- Creative Problem Solver-You enjoy developing thoughtful outdoor environments that balance aesthetics, function, and constructability.
- Efficient Designer-You understand that designs are tools to help projects move forward and can produce high-quality concepts without unnecessary delays.
- Collaborative Team Member-You enjoy working with sales staff, project managers, and field teams to refine ideas and develop practical solutions.
- Curious Learner-You want to see how designs translate into real construction and are eager to gain experience throughout the project lifecycle.
- Organized Multitasker-You can manage multiple design assignments while maintaining quality, organization, and responsiveness.
What You’ll Do
- Develop landscape and outdoor living designs for residential and commercial projects.
- Create conceptual plans, layout drawings, planting plans, and presentation graphics that support the sales process.
- Produce visual materials such as sketches, diagrams, and presentation boards used to communicate design ideas to clients.
- Collaborate with sales staff to translate project ideas and client goals into professional design concepts.
- Revise designs based on feedback from clients and internal teams.
- Research plant materials, hardscape finishes, and design elements appropriate for each project.
- Support the development of buildable designs that align with project budgets and value engineering needs.
- Produce design concepts efficiently so projects can move forward without delays.
- Conduct site visits to gather measurements, photos, and site observations.
- Evaluate grading, drainage, and other site conditions that influence design decisions.
- Participate in project walkthroughs to see how designs translate into real construction.
- Assist with documenting existing site conditions and preparing as-built information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design, preferred.
- 3+ years of professional landscape design experience
- Candidates with strong portfolios and relevant internships may be considered.
- Experience working in a design-build environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or other landscape drafting software required.
- Strong visual presentation and graphic communication skills.
- Basic understanding of planting design, site layout, and landscape construction concepts.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with sales teams, project managers, and operations staff.
