Combined with the Firm’s leading financial sponsor franchise, sector expertise and M&A capabilities, PCA delivers a range of strategic, customized solutions to clients across a wide range of strategies, including buyout, growth, real assets, special situations and sector specific strategies. The Secondary Advisory team at Moelis & Company is global team focused on advising financial sponsors and institutional investors on a wide range of strategic liquidity solutions across the private capital universe. The team works closely with industry and product groups across Moelis to provide relevant market insight, structuring advice, and best-in-class execution to clients. As a member of the team, successful candidates will be responsible for providing advisory, structuring, and execution services to clients with investments across the private capital universe.
Position Description:
The Analyst position at Moelis offers exposure to all aspects of the GP-led secondary market including single- and multi-asset continuation vehicles, tender offers, structured preferred equity solutions, and NAV loans, GP stake sales, and various other financing solutions for sponsors and their portfolio companies. The Analyst will work closely with professionals throughout the firm to deliver high quality advice to clients.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform company- and fund-level due diligence, prepare marketing materials (CIMs, Teasers, etc.) and other transaction-related documentation
- Financial analysis and modeling including LBOs, continuation fund models, waterfalls
- Assist in managing buy-side investor outreach and due diligence (e.g., sponsor team meetings, management team meetings, on-site diligence visits)
- Contribution in preparing responses to due diligence requests from potential secondary investors
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with Moelis’ industry and financial sponsor coverage team members
- Maintain databases of secondary market transactions, buy-side investors (profiles, strategies, investment preferences), broader market data to assist with marketing materials
- Communicate regularly with buy-side investors (secondary investors, family offices, SWFs, insurance firms, FoFs, asset managers, etc.)
- Conduct secondary market research including identifying trends in the alternatives investment industries
- Conducting ad hoc industry research
Qualifications:
Candidates for the Analyst position should exhibit a strong history of academic achievement as well as possess the following attributes:
- Minimum of 1-2 years post-college financial services experience (investment banking, private equity, consulting, transaction services, etc.)
- Undergraduate degree; focus in finance, business, accounting, economics, mathematics is preferred
- Understanding of the private equity and secondaries industry
- Knowledge of basic accounting and financial concepts; ability to analyze and value businesses
- A drive for results, and ability to perform well under pressure and against tight deadlines
- Team player mentality, and ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of internal groups and clients
- Strong multi-tasking skills
- Excellent analytical and presentation skills
- Exceptional Microsoft Office suite (Excel a must) and financial reporting skills
