ASSOCIATE BUSINESS ANALYST – UTILITIES

POSITION SUMMARY
Join our team as an Associate Business Analyst supporting utility-focused process improvement and operational modeling initiatives. This role is designed for early-career professionals who demonstrate strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving capability, and an interest in utility operations and digital process transformation.
The Associate Business Analyst will support senior analysts in workshop preparation, process documentation, and development of structured operational models within the Think Like LINQ (LINQ) platform. This is a developmental role focused on learning disciplined process analysis, measurable modeling techniques, and structured facilitation. The role includes developing familiarity with BPMN 2.0 concepts and structured process modeling frameworks under senior guidance.

WORK SCHEDULE & ALLOCATION
This role is structured as a part-time engagement at approximately 10 hours per week (25% allocation). Work volume may fluctuate based on project needs, but the average weekly commitment will remain near this level unless otherwise agreed.
COMPENSATION (Independent Contractor or Employee)
- Salary Range: $28.00 to $35.00 per hour; flexible based on expertise and skills
- Bonus: Discretionary
annual performance-based bonus
COMPENSATION (Employee)
- Paid Time Off: Up to 20 PTO days and 11 paid federal holidays annually for full-time employees, prorated for part-time employees based on hours worked.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
- Support structured discovery workshops within utility environments.
- Capture and document operational workflows using BPMN-informed thinking.
- Assist in building measurable process models within the LINQ platform.
- Support quantification of time, cost, and capacity impacts.
- Contribute to development of executive ready findings and recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Workshop Support & Process Documentation
- Assist in planning and preparing workshop materials.
- Document discovery sessions and capture process logic clearly and accurately.
- Convert operational discussions into structured workflow documentation.
- Maintain organized documentation and version control.
Process Structuring & Modeling Support
- Develop a working familiarity with BPMN 2.0 concepts (events, activities, gateways, swimlanes).
- Support translation of structured process logic into LINQ models.
- Assist with data entry, validation, and refinement of process models.
- Learn to interpret model outputs and scenario comparisons.
Analytical Support
- Support collection of baseline performance metrics.
- Assist in identifying process inefficiencies or improvement opportunities.
- Perform structured data analysis using Excel or similar tools.
- Contribute to development of executive-ready presentation materials.
LINQ Modeling Execution
- Serve as a junior model builder within the Think Like LINQ platform, entering data for task duration, resource allocation, and cost impacts.
Utility Industry Exposure
- Gain familiarity with utility operational environments including:
- Field Operations
- Asset Management
- Transmission & Distribution
- Billing / Financial Operations
- Regulatory Compliance
- Capital Programs
- Vegetation Management
DELIVERABLES
- Workshop notes and structured documentation
- Draft current-state and future-state process models within LINQ.
- Supporting quantitative analysis.
- Presentation materials contributing to client deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience.
- Foundational understanding of process thinking or workflow concepts.
- Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma concepts.
- Familiarity with BPMN 2.0 concepts.
- Internship or project experience in utility or regulated industries.
- Experience using process modeling or workflow tools.
- Interest in operational analytics or digital transformation.

- Flexibility to work across U.S. time zones as needed.
- Must be able to work legally in the US without sponsorship.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to pass a background check.
