This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Plan, assign, distribute, and oversee the work of the geographic information systems (GIS) work group: monitor and coordinate workloads, program effectiveness, and recommend changes. Provide technical guidance on all GIS applications to ensure team’s goals and objectives are met in an accurate, efficient and timely manner; and collaborate with management to identify, recommend, and pursue effective delivery of all GIS services. Assist with the hiring process and provides input regarding performance and development of staff.
- Provide consulting and expertise to customers, co-workers, and management on the application of GIS and related technologies to such fields as resource development and management, analysis of environmental hazards and contaminants, and planning. Monitor and coordinate ArcGIS client software and licensing.
- Oversee GIS Administration, including upgrade of geodatabases and ArcGIS Enterprise/Server infrastructure. Oversee the development of REST map services. Ensure the maintenance and availability of the ArcGIS Online environment. Oversee the maintenance of spatial databases that are relevant to the agency mission. Provide communication strategies between GIS and non-GIS databases. Document procedures, validate data for accuracy and completeness, complete approved metadata forms, and incorporate the data into geographic data applications or cartographic products.
- Oversee the development of GIS or applications that allow users to analyze environmental impacts or produce maps. Responsible for the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and project documentation including project pages, initiation, analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and project close out requirements. Oversee the creation and production of cartographic products and maps that represent spatial data. Oversee and ensure created documents and webpages meet the agency’s accessibility and web publishing standards.
Qualifications
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading and coordinating others in: solving problems, testing, configuration, or implementing geographic information system programs.
- Experience querying GIS databases in Oracle.
- Experience in enterprise application user access and license management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience in the administration of a program relevant to assignment.
OR
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.

WORK SCHEDULE Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
