Business Development Associate
About the Role
RENEW Energy Partners is seeking a Business Development Associate to support the origination, structure, and execution of energy infrastructure projects across North America. This role is designed for an early-career commercial professional who is eager to build a long-term career in energy infrastructure origination. The Associate will work closely with senior originators and the Vice President of Business Development to develop pipeline, advance transactions, and contribute to the execution of Energy-as-a-Service, Power Purchase, Thermal Energy Purchase, and Energy Services Agreements.
This role provides direct exposure to structured energy transactions and senior deal leadership, with the opportunity to progressively take on greater origination responsibility over time.
This is a hybrid role, with strong preference for candidates able to work 2 days/week in our Boston HQ.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Origination Support
- Conduct targeted outbound prospecting to commercial, industrial, institutional, and portfolio-scale customers.
- Research and identify qualified opportunities aligned with RENEW’s investment criteria.
- Support relationship development with customers and channel partners.
- Assist in early-stage qualification, including technical feasibility, customer credit, and contractability.
Transaction Execution & Pipeline Management
- Support senior originators in advancing live opportunities from initial engagement through an executed contract.
- Coordinate with Sales Engineering and Finance to develop Energy-as-a-Service, PPA, TEPA, leasing, or other structured solutions.
- Assist in preparing proposals, pricing analyses, and commercial term sheets.
- Track project milestones, manage diligence workflows, and help maintain transaction momentum.
- Maintain accurate opportunity tracking, forecasting, and reporting in CRM (Pipedrive).
Sales Operations & Commercial Support
- Maintain CRM hygiene, reporting dashboards, and pipeline analytics.
- Assist with internal sales reporting and board-level materials.
- Conduct market research and target account development.
- Support the refinement of sales materials, templates, and process documentation.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication between Business Development, Engineering, and Finance.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, consulting, project finance, or other structured commercial roles.
- Strong interest in energy infrastructure, sustainability, and infrastructure investing.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- CRM experience preferred (Pipedrive, Salesforce, or similar).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Business, or related field preferred.
