Project Engineer (Electrical)
Primary Purpose:
The Project Engineer (Electrical) must take ownership and responsibility for the management of all assigned projects. Management of assigned projects includes all planning, design, production, quality control and financial responsibilities. He / she must also rely upon an extensive level of knowledge in their specific engineering discipline including a solid knowledge of parallel discipline fields. Coordinates the activities of all team members and assures production meets schedules while producing a reasonable profit. The Project Engineer (Electrical) provides technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to team members to assure total quality of all engineering efforts.
Authority:
The Project Engineer (Electrical) is accountable for the management of projects assigned and has the authority to exercise independent control over the project design and production tasks in the engineer’s discipline. He / she supervises the tasks and methods used by the other personnel assigned to the project. The Project Engineer (Electrical) also represents the firm to the client and has authority to commit the firm and its resources to the client and the project. The Project Engineer (Electrical) refers his / her assignments to the Senior Engineer for QA / QC review of the final results.
Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer (Electrical) is accountable for the complete performance of the assigned personnel including the quality of all engineering efforts and designs, assuring project completion on schedule, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client. Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. The guidelines, practices and policies of the discipline, business unit and firm must be followed. Projects may be highly complex and require non-routine solutions. The Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for developing positive client relationships and for assuring client satisfaction. He / she is responsible for coordinating efforts between disciplines and developing a team approach to project completion. The Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for the complete performance of the team assigned to each project and for the successful completion of that project within the various parameters set forth for the project. The Project Engineer (Electrical) is responsible to participate in the firm’s marketing efforts, establish the project’s fee and contract, accurately claim revenue, provide consistent revenue forecasts, assure timely invoicing to clients and collection of outstanding invoices, while meeting client expectations. Schedule and document full and complete project QA / QC process.
Relationships:
May supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, designers and technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments. Responsible for the administrative supervision of assigned staff. Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and
Experience:
1. A minimum of 9 years of experience in the architectural engineering consulting environment
2. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
3. Engineer expertise in electrical discipline
4. Knowledge of construction costs and life cycle analysis
5. Experience managing moderate to complex projects and / or functioning as the secondary point of contact on larger projects
6. Ability to schedule and manage tasks for the electrical discipline
7. Demonstrated success in technical / formal communication with clients and staff
8. Proven ability to represent electrical discipline at meetings
9. Proven experience performing the responsibilities of an Engineer II (Electrical)
Pay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
