Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Investment Technology, the Software Engineer - Intern will work alongside Software and Data Engineers to design, implement, and maintain modern APIs, Python libraries, and backend databases that support and further develop the technology infrastructure of the organization’s Quantitative and Fundamental investment groups. Responsibilities may include developing pipelines and libraries to retrieve data and perform computation, as well as creating cloud-deployed distributed infrastructure to scale the quantitative research platform, all to innovate the next level of analytics systems that effectively integrate with and enhance current research applications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with fellow engineers to build, analyze, and improve Causeway’s proprietary investment management applications and data platforms
- Execute project assignments, which may require the Software Engineer – Intern to:
o Develop Python applications and AI tools that enhance the productivity of Quantitative Analysts
o Modernize data pipelines using best-of-bread open-source tools
o Build portions of modern containerized apps using Python and SQL in a cloud environment
- Delivery of quality code and data
Qualifications:
- Entering the final year of a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree such as Software Engineering, Financial Engineering, Data Science or Information Systems, with a strong GPA.
- Demonstrated passion for growing a career in software engineering or data engineering
- Relevant coursework in object-oriented design and relational modeling
- Entry-to-Intermediate level programming skills in Python and SQL
- Investments or Finance coursework or experience is a plus
- Experience building software using generative AI tools is a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Wages: Based on an annual salary of $85,000 ($40.87 per hour paid bi-weekly) for undergraduate students and $170,000 ($6,538.47 paid bi-weekly) for graduate students. Additionally, a moving/housing stipend is offered as part of the summer internship package, if applicable.
