About the Role
G&A is seeking a Junior Technologist who will work with a variety of software and hardware environments, emerging technologies, and media platforms to create impactful visitor experiences for the world’s premiere museums and cultural centers. This is a blended design and technology production role for someone interested in the collaborative development of interactive experiences, prototyping, beta testing and bug reporting, and working with their hands in a tech-forward space. This person will report to G&A’s Director of Technology.
This is a hybrid position based in NYC, requiring regular work from the G&A Lab in Midtown Manhattan, and wider travel for project commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Develop application components with the guidance of senior staff
- Assist with hardware, environment, and application setup for prototyping, user testing, QA testing, and client reviews at G&A’s Lab and onsite locations
- General cross-discipline collaboration and support for media technology at G&A’s Lab
- Track application development, builds, and content updates throughout the SDLC
- Perform checklists and other tasks relating to deployments and internal/client reviews
- Evaluate and identify potential issues/bugs during prototyping and development
Requirements
- 2+ years experience in software development
- Experience prototyping or beta testing software meant for public use
- Team-player with outstanding analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities
- Familiarity with software experience design principles and learning methods
- Strong, demonstrated interest connecting interactive media design, UX, and application development with storytelling and user learning
- Strong interest in immersive technologies and educational spaces
- Strong interest in working with emerging experiential technologies (VR/XR, ML/AI, gestural interfaces, etc.) and testing various interaction devices, APIs and hardware configurations
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle, production pipeline, and QA processes
- Able to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Experience with versioning software (Git)
- Strong proficiency working in Windows in general
