Responsibilities
To provide appropriate high quality intervention services designed to enhance the student's potential for learning. Provision of screening, assessment, development of child centered goals, collaboration with and supervision of COTAs and participation in IEP meetings.
Qualifications
1. Shall possess the necessary license required by the Colorado Department of Education or be endorsed in the appropriate areas accepted by the Colorado Department of Education in lieu of such license.
2. Registered member of the American Occupational Association.
3. Two years previous successful experience in pediatric work and experience in public schools preferred.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of Occupational Therapy practices and technologies in the educational environment preferred.
5. Participate in all opportunities for professional development offered by the BOCES.
Specific Skills, Experience,
Other Requirements
· Conduct screenings, assessment and evaluation in a timely manner for students suspected of having motor skill development that prevents the student from benefiting from education.
· Develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant and will be used in the student’s educational setting.
· Coordinate with classroom teachers, other educators and parents by providing suggested activities to enhance the student’s educational progress and performance.
· Maintain all required records, forms and files including those prescribed by the program and those required by the BOCES. Attend IEP meetings.
· Consult with parents regarding student needs/progress.
· Construct, modify and maintain adaptive equipment for positioning, activities of daily living, vocational and classroom use.
· Facilitate in-service education for districts; train and monitor teachers and paraprofessionals to assist in the maintenance of motor objectives.
- Participate on BOCES teams to provide expertise about motor intervention.
Employment Terms Salary
· Starting Salary Range: $52,678-$84,731 We are able to accommodate from 0.6 FTE to 1.00 FTE. Salary listed is for a 1.0 FTE. For FTEs less than 1.0, the salary listed will be prorated accordingly. Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefit package including PERA, Health, Dental, Life, and Disability Insurance.
