Overview:
Hydro Service & Supplies is a leader in the design, fabrication, installation, and service of high purity water systems. What began as a small start-up Service DI (SDI) company in 1967 is today an industry standard for customized pretreatment and filtration skids, high purity water generation systems, storage and distribution skids, reclamation systems, and high-performance process skids for Life Sciences.
Our Durham, NC team is searching for a qualified engineer that can design and quote water purification systems, provide engineering support to our manufacturing staff, and provide technical support for our field staff. Typical work will include designing RO and EDI skids, designing complete water systems, providing quotations and engineering to support our sales efforts, producing process and instrumentation diagrams and equipment layout drawings using AutoCAD, writing Validation Documents (URS, FRS, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ), preparing equipment specifications, process descriptions, submittals, and turnover documents, and provide on-site engineering support as needed. This position is a full-time role, regular hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Overtime may be expected during times of peak demand.
Responsibilities:
- Working with business developers, engineers, or shop personnel, develop preliminary equipment design plans and cost estimates for new products or refurbished equipment projects
- Work with CAD designers to produce detailed engineering drawings (general arrangements, frame fabrication and bill of materials), review and approve drawings for release to fabrication
- Manage submittal of design documents to customers communicate and coordinate changes and approvals of design submittals
- Specify and work with Hydro’s purchasing group to procure system components, equipment, valves, instruments, pipe, fittings etc. from a variety of vendors
- Prepare and oversee project documentation, spec sheets, O&M manuals, and testing protocols, standard operating procedures etc.
- Attend and support system start-ups, includes onsite operation, testing and troubleshooting of newly installed equipment.
- Support sales, installation, and service groups with technical information requests including customer-facing interactions with sales and support
- Participate in high volume of written and verbal communication with multiple departments and customer representatives
- Manage project change orders and change order logs to ensure scope deviations are correctly accounted for, priced, and sold to customers
- Take part in completed project review and evaluation, implement corrective actions to sales or applications processes to more accurately price and quote future projects

Experience and Qualification Requirements
- 0-2+ years of industry product design proficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Working knowledge of the design/manufacturing of engineered products and equipment such as pumps, valves, piping, testing, filtration, softening, reverse osmosis, ultraviolet disinfection, and deionization.
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD), preferably AutoCAD
- Strong project management skills, ability to coordinate multiple tasks and multiple personnel
- Self-motivated, organized, positive attitude, team player, and capable of staying cool under pressure from multiple ongoing projects
- Water treatment experience preferred but not required
· Must pass background check and drug screen.
· Valid driver’s license w/ record in good standing is required
