Designer will support the Director of Design as needed. Will aid in all aspects of new style development.
Responsibilities
- Research trends, color, silhouette, fabric, materials, trims, and market opportunities to develop fresh and relevant product concepts
- Creates and submits tech-packs for all categories for overseas development. Must have a strong understanding of garment construction and industry best practices. This includes zoom construction details and detailed sewing instructions. Maintain up to date BOMs for all styles
- Strong ability to create and execute on trend embellishment and embroidery layouts. Develop CAD illustrations for print artwork and re-coloration as needed
- Create and update line sheets and design boards. Facilitate work flow as needed
- Create flat digital sketches for all linesheets, board, and tech packs
- Attend fittings and take fit notes for tech designer and team records. Update all team members of changes to styles. Update techpacks, linesheets and BOMs as needed following fittings. Create and communicate design changes to vendors
- Oversee lab dips, wash developments, strike-offs, and sample approvals to ensure alignment with aesthetic and quality standards
- Update and maintain seasonal development and sketch binders. Build and maintain a comprehensive design library for fabrics, trims, washes, and developments. Manage seasonal development tracking charts
- Update ERP and other development tracking systems for all styles
Qualifications/Experience
- Must have a minimum two-year AAS or College degree in Design. 4 year program graduates preferred.
- 5 years experience in an apparel Design role
- Able to clearly communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through tech pack creation and CADS
- Must have excellent working knowledge of CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop and ExcelStrong knowledge of design details and interior garment construction
- Self-motivated, positive and dependable attitude. Must be able to work independently on work from home days
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in both written and verbal communication
- Must be a team player, have ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines and take initiative
- Strong understanding of print and color is a must
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet all objectives and allow the various initiatives of the Design department to be accomplished in a timely manner
- Experience with Procreate and Google Suite are preferred
- Knowledge of fully fashioned knits is a plus
