Position Title: Social Media Coordinator

Pay: $18.00 - $19.24 per hour
Established in 1993, Tampa Bay Watch is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the recovery and protection of the Tampa Bay estuary through scientific and educational programs. With the opening of our second location, the Discovery Center in downtown St Petersburg, our organization is growing and this position will focus on expanding our communications capacity, including marketing, advertising and public relations.
This is an exciting opportunity to create meaningful relationships and impact in the Tampa Bay community. The Social Media Coordinator will utilize and fully understand the importance of visual communication and storytelling.
Position Summary: Responsible for developing content and messaging for social media platforms at Tampa Bay Watch. The Social Media Coordinator will collaborate closely with leaders across the organization to drive messaging and revenue for Tampa Bay Watch programs, initiatives, fund-raising and earned revenue opportunities. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Communications Manager and team in social media, consistent with the mission and brand voice, at Tampa Bay Watch.
- Collaborate with Marketing team to develop marketing and communications plans to increase public awareness of the organization’s projects and programs, resulting in increased support from constituents and corporate partners.
- Manage all aspects of TBW’s social media presence (website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.) including content creation for static posts, videos, stories, in collaboration with Communications Manager
- Monitor all comments and messages on behalf of TBWs social media pages and website, staying consistent with brand voice and messaging
- Manage social listening & monitoring tools to identify industry trends and local topics that may be relevant to TBW.
- Conceptualize and produce quality social content on all pages for the purpose of soliciting engagement and social inquiries.
- Increase engagement and revenue via social across different departments.
- Coordinate the execution of social media initiatives, giveaways, campaigns and contests.
- Report on pre-determined daily metrics at the start of each day.
- Complete all designated end-of-month analytics at the start of each month.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities, tools and technology to support the organization’s marketing and communications plans. Encourage creativity and innovative, data-driven approaches for messaging.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- 2 years of extensive experience in social media for an organization required (including demonstrable metrics and portfolio).
- Experience with short-form content creation and editing required
- Strong organization and project management skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Written and verbal communication skills, as well as copywriting and proofreading skills.
- Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Must have strong analytical skills to analyze metrics, KPIs, and create reports.
- Must be a highly energetic professional with a record of building and reinforcing a strong brand and awareness.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, web-based media platforms, and analytic software. Proficient in Sprout Social and LinkTree is a bonus.
- Must have a working knowledge of Google Ads, Meta Business Suite and other paid online advertising platforms.
- Awareness of coastal ecosystems and related issues is extremely helpful but not required
- Ability to be flexible, maintain a good sense of humor and keep a universal perspective.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit or type; and talk or hear. The employee will be occasionally required to stand; walk for extended periods and spend time in the FL outdoor heat during special events. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
