Building the Systems Behind the Brand
The Visual Merchandising Intern will own a defined set of projects that shape how St. Bernard shows up in every store, from the supplies that live in storage to the signage and testers customers interact with on the floor. This is a hands-on internship for someone who loves both the design side (Displays, signage, styling mannequins) and the operational side (counts, systems, organization).
Merchandising Storage & Supplies
- Organize merchandising storage from the ground up: sort, label, and catalog every fixture, sign, prop, and display element
- Audit and count all existing fixtures in storage and build a clear, repeatable way to store this information for the team
- Ensure every merchandising supply is uploaded to the supplies website so stores can request what they need
- Maintain a process for cataloging new supplies as they come in
Brand Signage & Print Collateral
- Create brand signage & in-store messaging across categories — in Adobe Illustrator & Cricut
- Maintain a signage archive and a version-control approach so stores always have the latest assets
Display Testers & In-Store Programs
- Create display testers for candles and diffusers that protect inventory while inviting customers to experience the product
- Design and roll out a system for tester upkeep, refills, and replacements across every St. Bernard location
- Document the tester program in a way store teams can follow without back-and-forth
Warehouse Sale Preparation
- Assist with the prep and organization of the warehouse sale from the back end through opening day
- Categorize and sort apparel so the floor is shoppable and on-brand even at sale pricing
- Price items accurately and consistently across categories
- List select items on Facebook Marketplace and other resale channels, including photography and copy
Floor Planning & Store Execution
Translate visual merchandising plans into reality on the sales floor through accurate floor maps, attentive store visits, and close partnership with the Visual Merchandising Manager.
Floor Maps & Store Totals
- Keep store floor maps current — updating to reflect fixture layout and seasonal changes
- Partner with the Visual Merchandising Manager on store floor totals by style to support healthy stock levels and presentation
Store Visits & Quality Control
- Make regular store visits to confirm signage and testers are correctly installed, stocked, and maintained
- Flag gaps between intended execution and on-the-floor reality, and partner with the team to close them
- Capture install photography and store-condition documentation to inform future visual merchandising decisions
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Performance and growth will be evaluated against the following project milestones:
- Fully organized merchandising storage with every supply uploaded to the supplies website
- Documented fixture inventory with a system the team can maintain after the internship ends
- Candle and diffuser tester program designed, deployed, and documented across stores
- Updated Illustrator-designed floor maps and a portfolio of brand signage
- Warehouse sale prepped, categorized, priced, and partially listed on Marketplace ahead of opening
- Final end-of-internship presentation summarizing work, learnings, and recommendations
