Project Manager – Material Handling & Crane Systems
Salary: $100,000 – $130,000
About the Role
Crane 1 Services is seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Project Manager to lead the execution of material handling and overhead lifting equipment projects from concept through installation and commissioning.
In this role, you will oversee the full project lifecycle—ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and external partners to drive successful outcomes while serving as the primary point of contact for customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Execution & Leadership
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of material lifting equipment projects
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets including P&L of all projects manage, and resource plans
- Ensure projects meet defined milestones, timelines, and cost targets
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates and resolving issues
Technical Oversight
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics
- Provide technical support across mechanical, structural, and electrical components
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure proper system design and integration
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to define scope and requirements
- Partner with procurement to source materials and components
- Ensure seamless communication across all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Installation & Commissioning
- Oversee installation activities to ensure alignment with design specifications
- Manage commissioning processes including testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation
- Provide on-site technical guidance during installation and startup phases as needed
Risk, Quality & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate project risks related to cost, schedule, and execution
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable industry standards (ASME, ANSI, etc.)
- Conduct inspections and audits to maintain quality standards
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and manage project documentation including reports, compliance records, and test results
- Track project performance and communicate progress to leadership
QualificationsExperience & Education
- 5–7+ years of project management experience in industrial manufacturing, material handling, or crane systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Equivalent experience in industrial equipment or engineered systems will be considered
Skills & Competencies
- Proven ability to manage complex, technical projects from start to finish
- Strong understanding of material handling systems, structural/mechanical design, and industrial equipment
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and customer coordination
- Knowledge of industry standards (OSHA, ASME, ANSI)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and execution
Technical Skills
- Experience with estimating and exposure to metal fabrication and/or machining preferred
- Working knowledge of CAD for reviewing or processing drawings is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with project management or ERP systems is beneficial
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel to customer sites for project coordination, installation oversight, and inspections
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments
- Valid driver’s license required
