As a Junior Accountant, you will be instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX standards. Duties
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Workday, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, ADP, Paychex, and other financial systems.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify accuracy of financial data.
- Prepare journal entries for various financial transactions following double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing reports.
- Contribute to compliance efforts related to SOX controls and governmental accounting standards.
- Support internal audits by providing documentation and explanations for account balances and transactions.
Skills
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and experience with corporate or governmental accounting practices.
- Familiarity with payroll management systems like ADP or UltiPro and experience with payroll processing.
- Ability to perform detailed data entry accurately with a focus on precision (10 key typing skills).
- Experience in accounts payable/receivable functions along with account reconciliation expertise.
- Basic tax experience related to payroll or corporate taxes is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills combined with excellent math abilities for account analysis and budgeting support.
