What To Expect
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and implementation of state-of-the-art machines, from concept to successful Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Based on-site, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our facilities, focusing on mechanical design excellence. You will support the ramp-up phase through to seamless handover to production teams while driving continuous enhancements and expansions to optimize performance and efficiency.
What You'll Do
Collaborate on the full lifecycle of machine design including conceptualization, prototyping, and validation up to successful FAT in Germany until hand-over to production on-site Act as the on-site permanent liaison for production systems, providing expert guidance on mechanical design aspects Assist in the ramp-up of new installations, ensuring smooth transitions to production operationsLead initiatives for ongoing improvements, expansions, and optimizations to enhance system reliability, safety, and productivityUtilize CAD software and simulation tools to develop detailed designs and troubleshoot mechanical issuesWork closely with cross-functional teams, including controls engineers, project managers, and production staff, to meet project deadlines and quality standards
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent experienceExperience: minimum 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial automation sectors. Hands-on experience with machine design from concept to optimization in productionTechnical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD and mechanical principles including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and standards (e.g. ISO) is required. Familiarity with reading and developing technical drawings, pneumatic schemes/time-function-diagrams/risk assessments/FMEAsSoft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvementOther: Ability to travel and must be eligible to work in the U.S. German language skills are an advantage
