Cogent Legal helps trial teams win by turning complex cases into clear, persuasive stories. We run mock trials and focus groups, study how real jurors react, and build the strategy and visuals attorneys rely on at trial — often with several cases in production at the same time. We're a close-knit team, and we're looking for a new teammate with a legal background to grow with us.
This is a role for a lawyer who loves the strategy of litigation more than the grind of practicing it. You'll move through the full arc of a case. In pre-production, you'll help our team prep and shape the story behind the scenes. On production days, you're with us in the room running mock trials and focus groups, moderating a juror panel and capturing and analyzing juror feedback as deliberations unfold. In post-production, you'll work with us to turn it into sharp findings and strategy. And when a case goes to trial, you get the opportunity to move with it into jury selection, armed with everything we've learned from the mocks.
We're hiring a full-time attorney to own that arc across several cases at once: perfect for someone who loves the structure and adrenaline of trial and production days, but also values the flexibility to prep and analyze in their own time. You won't be doing any of it alone: you'll be part of a tight-knit team that shares the prep, the production days, and the wins.
What You'll Do
- Run multiple trials, mock trials, and focus groups in parallel: tracking deadlines and prepping materials without dropping a detail
- Own the production day: manage jurors and logistics, and adapt on the fly
- Help run and moderate live deliberation sessions and focus groups
- Analyze juror feedback and case materials, applying real legal analysis to spot the strengths and threats a trial team needs to hear
- Edit deposition and trial video and build polished PowerPoint presentations on tight timelines
- Develop jury selection and voir dire strategy alongside our consultants
- Be a strategic right hand to attorney clients across active cases
What We're Looking For
- JD required; bar admission a plus but not required: practicing and non-practicing attorneys both welcome
- A lawyer who's energized by trial strategy, persuasion, and jury psychology
- Built for pace: calm and sharp when several cases are in production at once
- Strong legal analysis: you can quickly distill a messy case into what actually matters
- A trusted teammate who communicates clearly in high-stakes moments
- A creative streak: you enjoy building and editing PowerPoint presentations and cutting video, and you care how the finished product looks
- Comfortable with PowerPoint and video editing software, or eager and able to learn fast
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD). Bar admission a plus.
