The Chemical Engineer is responsible for driving improvement and the execution of projects to deliver both process and financial improvements that fall within the business objectives and strategic goals. The Chemical Engineer will improve and refine chemical manufacturing methods and implement safety procedures to limit risk within the scope of safety regulations.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Support the development of new products by taking the chemist’s lab formulations and seeing these through to the industrial level.
- Liaison with the customer on performance, projects, and technical activities associated with automated machinery.
- Responsible for reviewing and improving production methods to maximize efficiency, quality, and yield.
- Using scientific, mathematical, and engineering principles to solve problems and improve processes.
- To ensure that permanent and effective corrective action is taken as a result of any quality, safety, or production concern.
- Develop manufacturing processes that will minimize waste and increase the overall quality of the finished product.
- Recognize and report documentation issues to supervision as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and routine maintenance of the work area and equipment items within the working environment.
- Control the inventory of basic raw materials and wastes within the immediate working environment.
- Conduct chemical syntheses of APIs and their intermediates within scheduled dates or times independently.
- Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot process-specific efficacies independently.
- Facilitate the automation of the Preventative Maintenance program and audit it for improvement.
- Document all work conducted according to the required format(s).
- Assist in the assembly and maintenance of documents particular to the operation and complying with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Comply with all applicable policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- Previous experience in engineering and manufacturing development preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain professional vendor relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong data entry and organizational skills.
- Experience with Chempax software by Datacore is a plus but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, with the ability to quickly learn new software programs.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in an energetic, deadline-oriented environment.
