We're a mobile entertainment app that helps people quickly decide what to watch, cutting through endless scrolling across streaming platforms with fast, personalized recommendations. We're an early-stage, founder-led product moving quickly - which means whoever takes this role has real influence over how the brand sounds and looks on social from day one.
About the Role
Twelve months from now, this person will have built our app a real presence on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram - a recognizable voice, a library of short-form video and graphics that consistently gets people talking about what to watch next, and a direct line to a Gen Z audience that trusts our recommendations because they trust the person delivering them.
What You'll Do
• Create and post short-form video (YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Reels) built around movie and TV recommendations, reactions, and trending pop-culture moments
• Be the on-camera face and voice of the app across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram - comfortable talking to a phone camera solo, no crew required
• Design supporting graphics - thumbnails, cover art, and static social posts - that match the app's visual brand
• Track what's trending in sounds, formats, and conversation among Gen Z audiences, and turn it around into content fast
• Write and post accompanying social copy/captions that match the app's tone
• Monitor comments and engagement, and fold what resonates back into the next batch of content
• Partner with the founder on brand voice and content direction as the strategy evolves
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Demonstrated experience creating short-form video content - a portfolio or existing channel on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram we can look at
• Comfortable and natural on camera, with a strong, distinct voice
• Graphic design skills - able to produce clean, scroll-stopping thumbnails and social graphics (Canva, Photoshop, or similar)
• Genuine passion for movies, film, and TV - this needs to come through as real, not performed
• A current, credible read on what's trending with Gen Z across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram
• Self-directed - comfortable owning a content calendar with minimal oversight
Preferred (nice to have):
• An existing following or track record of content that's performed well
• Video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, or similar)
• Familiarity with major streaming platforms and their libraries
Compensation
This is an independent contractor role paid as a monthly stipend. [$500/month].
