Sr. Manufacturing Systems Programmer

Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 Base Salary (Negotiable Depending on Experience)
- Compensation flexible depending on overall manufacturing systems experience.

Job Summary
MS Companies is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Systems Programmer for a direct-hire opportunity supporting a global automotive manufacturing organization in the Reynoldsburg, Ohio area.
This individual will play a critical role supporting manufacturing operations, production traceability systems, plant-floor applications, and internal operational software initiatives within a fast-paced industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of software development, manufacturing systems support, SQL/database management, and operational troubleshooting experience within automotive, manufacturing, industrial, or production-oriented environments.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a highly collaborative engineering and operations culture while supporting business-critical manufacturing systems that directly impact production performance, traceability, and operational efficiency.
This role will also help mentor and support a smaller internal technical/programming team while remaining highly hands-on technically.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of software development and/or manufacturing systems programming experience
- Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience (SQL Server 2005 or newer)
- Experience with:
- C#
- .NET / ASP.NET
- SQL
- JavaScript
- PHP
- HTML
- Visual Basic or modern equivalents
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or production-related environments
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong communication, organization, and prioritization abilities
- Ability to manage multiple operational and project-based priorities simultaneously
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 supplier experience
- MES, production traceability, or manufacturing systems experience
- ERP-integrated application experience
- Experience with SOAP and/or REST-based transactions
- PLC ladder logic read/write capability (preferred but negotiable)
- Experience supporting internally developed manufacturing applications
- Experience balancing legacy support with continuous system improvements and enhancement initiatives
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior technical personnel
- Exposure to plant-floor operational technologies and production-critical systems
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and support custom software applications supporting manufacturing operations
- Support and enhance production traceability and operational systems
- Maintain and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments and related applications
- Support ERP-integrated manufacturing applications and operational workflows
- Develop and improve automation, reporting, and process-efficiency solutions
- Provide technical support during production-related system interruptions or operational issues
- Maintain documentation, change management, and version control processes
- Mentor and support less experienced technical/programming team members
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, production, and manufacturing leadership teams
Physical & Environment Requirements
Physical expectations and working conditions associated with this role may include a combination of office and manufacturing plant environments.
Work may involve:
- Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
- Exposure to moderate manufacturing noise levels
- Occasional lifting of computer or network-related equipment up to approximately 40 lbs.
- Occasional stooping, crawling, or installation-related support work
- Occasional after-hours support responsibilities tied to production operations and manufacturing schedules
