Position Summary
We're looking for a creative, organized, and energetic Marketing & Events Specialist who enjoys both planning memorable experiences and telling the stories behind them.
This role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of professional experience who is eager to grow their career in marketing, events, destination management, and community engagement.
The Marketing & Events Specialist is responsible for planning and promoting Uptown Dallas Inc.'s community events while leading the organization's day-to-day marketing efforts.
This position combines hands-on social media management and content creation with event planning, agency coordination, vendor management, and community partnerships. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, collaborative, and excited to bring Uptown's brand and experiences to life.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
Marketing & Communications
- Manage Uptown Dallas Inc.'s social media platforms through content planning, creation, scheduling, publishing, and community engagement.
- Work with a variety of digital platforms and software, including Salesforce, Placer.ai, Webflow, Mailchimp, and other marketing and event management tools.
- Create engaging short-form video content, including Reels and other social-first formats.
- Develop and distribute monthly email newsletters and marketing communications.
- Maintain and update the organization's website.
- Track marketing performance and provide recommendations using analytics and reporting.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications.
Agency & Project Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for UDI's creative agency and public relations agency.
- Coordinate project requests, timelines, approvals, and deliverables.
- Assist in the execution of larger marketing campaigns alongside agency partners.
- Coordinate production of printed marketing materials, advertisements, and promotional assets.
Events & Community Engagement
Plan and execute UDI's annual calendar of community programming, including signature events, wellness programming, networking events, and seasonal activations.
Responsibilities include:
- Event planning and logistics
- Budget tracking
- Vendor coordination
- Entertainment coordination
- Sponsorship fulfillment
- Site plans and event layouts
- Event timelines and production schedules
- Day-of-event management
- Post-event reporting and recap
Partnerships & Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community partners, vendors, and sponsors.
- Assist with marketing partnerships that increase awareness and participation in UDI initiatives.
- Represent UDI at community events and meetings when appropriate.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist with Marketing Committee meetings and materials.
- Maintain marketing calendars and project timelines.
- Process invoices and assist with budget tracking.
- Prepare event reports and marketing recaps.
- Support additional marketing and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, or a related field preferred.
- 2–3 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, events, hospitality, tourism, or a related field.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms, including photography and short-form video.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with social media scheduling platforms, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, or Webflow is a plus.
