Inuit Credit Karma’s Recs Platform team is looking for a Software Engineer. Our team is focused on delivering personalized financial recommendations that empower millions of our members to make informed financial decisions. We develop state-of-the-art recommendation platforms, including (but not limited to) deep learning-based retrieval and ranking systems for personalized recommendations.
In this role, you'll work on building and optimizing the core services that power these recommendations, collaborating closely with other software engineers, data scientists, and data engineers. This is a position where you can make a tangible impact on how millions of people manage their financial lives.
Responsibilities
As a member of the Recs Platform team, you will:
- Core Product Contribution: Contribute to our core products and services, as well as systems that power critical engineering operations. See your work launched and help solve meaningful problems for customers.
- Application Development: Gain hands-on experience developing applications using languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
- Data & API Integration: Work with database technologies (such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB) and apply RESTful API design principles to integrate services effectively.
- Engineering Best Practices: Learn and apply proven best practices in designing, building, and supporting software projects while utilizing modern tools like Git, Jenkins, or Travis.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in Agile methodologies, work effectively within Scrum teams , and collaborate closely with peers across disciplines to build strong, supportive working relationships.
- Mentorship and Growth: Receive hands-on guidance, detailed feedback, and mentorship from experienced team members to help launch a rewarding career.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 0–2 years of experience developing software applications (relevant coursework, internships, and academic or personal projects are welcome).
- Technical Fundamentals: Foundational understanding of object-oriented design, programming principles, and Agile development methodologies.
- Programming Languages: Hands-on or academic experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++, etc.).
- Emerging Tech Awareness: Awareness of AI concepts and a basic understanding of capabilities like Generative AI.
- Soft Skills: Strong written, verbal, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Mindset: A willingness to learn, adapt to new priorities, tools, and technologies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
