Job Title: Chief of Staff
Location: San Francisco Bay Area (Hybrid / In-Person)
About the firm:
Our client is a Series A/B venture-backed startup operating at the intersection of speed and scale. We are in the "hyper-growth" phase - moving from product-market fit to market domination. We are looking for a force multiplier who can turn chaos into clarity.
The role:
As the Chief of Staff, you will be the senior leadership's strategic partner and the "glue" that holds the executive team together. You will operate at the highest level of strategy while diving deep into the weeds of execution. You will be responsible for driving key strategic initiatives, optimizing internal operations, and ensuring the leadership team is aligned and focused on the metrics that matter.
Key responsibilities:
- Strategic Execution: Own the cadence and execution of the company’s OKRs and quarterly priorities. Translate high-level strategy into actionable plans for the leadership team.
- CEO Enablement: Act as a "gatekeeper and facilitator" for the CEO. Manage the flow of information, prepare for Board meetings, and ensure the CEO is focused on the highest-leverage activities.
- Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks in cross-functional workflows (Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing). Design and implement systems and processes to improve organizational efficiency.
- Data & Analytics: Work with department heads to build dashboards and track KPIs. Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Bridge: Lead special projects that don't fit neatly into any one department (e.g., fundraising prep, M&A diligence, new market entry).
- Culture & Communication: Ensure that key company information is cascaded effectively throughout the organization and that the executive team remains cohesive.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a high-performance environment (e.g., Consulting, Investment Banking, Venture Capital, or a hyper-growth startup).
- The "Startup" Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity. You can build a plane while flying it. No task is too small, and no strategic challenge is too big.
- Analytical Rigor: Highly structured thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills. You can synthesize complex data into a simple narrative.
- Execution Bias: You are a "doer" as much as a "thinker." You take ownership and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
- EQ & Grit: High emotional intelligence. You can influence without authority and navigate sensitive situations with diplomacy.
- Tech Fluency: Proficient with modern productivity tools (Notion, Slack, Airtable, etc.).
- Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area.
