Kitchen & Bath Designer / Project Coordinator
Pacific Coast Custom Design is an established Orange County residential remodeling and custom cabinetry company with nearly 40 years of experience and an in-house cabinet shop.
We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented designer who can develop thoughtful designs, communicate confidently with clients, and coordinate the details that turn a design into a successfully completed project.
This position combines hands-on design work with estimating support, client selections, and project coordination. It offers hourly base pay plus project profit bonuses.
What You’ll Do
- Develop kitchen, bathroom, custom cabinetry, and residential remodeling designs that reflect each client’s needs, budget, and home.
- Prepare dimensioned layouts, elevations, cabinetry drawings, specifications, and 3D presentations.
- Take and document field measurements and coordinate verification with the shop and installation team before production.
- Guide clients through material, finish, fixture, hardware, and accessory selections, keeping decisions organized and on schedule.
- Help prepare detailed scopes of work, estimates, material quantities, and vendor pricing for management review.
- Coordinate design information, approved selections, purchasing details, and material lead times with the office, cabinet shop, field team, and vendors.
- Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, selections, client approvals, schedules, and outstanding decisions.
- Provide timely client updates and follow through on questions and commitments.
- Identify scope changes, prepare change-order information, and obtain required approvals before additional work proceeds.
- Monitor assigned project budgets and flag potential cost overruns, missing information, or scheduling problems early.
- Support project completion and punch-list coordination while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
What We’re Looking For
- Practical experience in residential kitchen and bath design, custom cabinetry, or remodeling design.
- Proficiency in design and drafting software, with the ability to produce clear, dimensioned drawings and 3D presentations.
- Understanding of cabinetry construction, materials, finishes, and installation considerations.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects at different stages.
- Professional client communication and a dependable approach to follow-through.
- Comfort working with estimates, budgets, vendor quotes, and project-management software.
- Ability to attend in-person meetings and visit local project sites and vendor locations.
- A portfolio that demonstrates both design ability and technical drawing skills. Relevant experience and demonstrated ability are valued.
Compensation and Work Structure
This is a W-2 hourly position with additional project profit bonus opportunities.
The incentive structure provides a share of qualifying project profit above a 10% project profit margin. Qualifying profit accounts for defined project costs, allocated payroll, and company overhead. The percentage, calculation method, eligibility, and payment terms will be provided in a written incentive plan before employment begins.
We value accurate estimating, efficient coordination, quality workmanship, and successful project completion. Final pricing and major commitments are subject to management approval.
Employees work within an agreed schedule, accurately record all hours worked, and obtain advance approval for overtime. All hours worked are paid in accordance with applicable law.
