VP, Business Intelligence & Analytics | Mission Driven Housing Tech | OR (Hybrid)
My child and I had a home; I knew where she was going to put her head at night. There was no greater sense of relief than that. Jodi R., OneApp renter
About OneApp
Acumen is honored to partner with fast-growing housing innovator OneApp. OneApp exists to change what is possible for people who have been denied access to housing. Its mission is to house one million people by 2032 by creating a practical path from denied to approved. OneApp helps families move into stable homes, enables vulnerable people to secure housing that once felt impossible, and gives housing-focused nonprofits a faster, repeatable way to place renters. It also helps property managers approve more renters with less risk, improve occupancy and portfolio performance, and increase yield.
This is a rare, mission-driven model in which human impact and business value reinforce one another.
OneApp supports the entire housing equation. Its services help renters move forward with the home they have chosen and help nonprofit partners overcome approval barriers. Property teams benefit from active renter support, portfolio insight, and reimbursement when uncommon defaults occur. More than nine out of ten OneApp renters are successful, and the company is building from rapid growth toward a broader vision of long-term housing stability.
The Opportunity
OneApp is seeking a Vice President, Business Intelligence & Analytics to build and lead an enterprise-wide BI function. Reporting initially to the COO, this leader will help the company build on its existing data capabilities to deliver trusted, proactive, decision-oriented intelligence across the renter, partner, product, and business lifecycle.
This is not a traditional reporting or dashboard role; it is an opportunity to create the strategy, governance, operating model, talent structure, and executive decision-support capability that will enable OneApp to scale responsibly while advancing its mission. The successful candidate will connect data to consequential business questions, clarify tradeoffs, surface risk and opportunity, and ensure insight leads to accountable action and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the enterprise BI strategy, 12-month roadmap, operating model, governance framework, and quality standards.
- Establish shared KPI definitions, ownership, documentation, and trusted sources of truth across the company.
- Prioritize the analytical questions that matter most and connect renter, partner, product, go-to-market, risk, operational, and financial signals.
- Build an executive business-health view and proactive monitoring that surfaces material changes, opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Translate analysis into clear recommendations, accountable action, and measurable learning.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering on instrumentation, data quality, architecture dependencies, and technical enablement.
- Design and build the BI team, analyst structure, tooling, operating cadence, and talent strategy as the capability matures.
- Create an effective enterprise partnership model in which BI connects, synthesizes, challenges, and measures while functional leaders retain ownership of decisions and execution.
Measures of Success
First 90 Days
- Assess the current data, reporting, analytics, talent, and decision-making environment.
- Confirm the BI charter, decision rights, and 12-month roadmap.
- Define KPI governance and identify the most important data dependencies.
- Recommend the team design, analyst structure, and tooling plan.
Months 412
- Launch governed KPIs and an executive business-health view.
- Implement proactive monitoring and deliver at least two high-value, cross-functional use cases.
- Add approved analyst capacity and establish a repeatable operating cadence.
Months 1224
- Expand predictive and self-service intelligence.
- Build specialized analytical capacity and mature the operating model.
- Help OneApp evaluate the right long-term structure for enterprise analytics and organizational consolidation.
Candidate Profile
We welcome candidates whose experience demonstrates the core requirements below, even if they do not match every preferred qualification. This executive role requires a record of building or materially transforming an enterprise BI or analytics function and the ability to lead across business and technical teams.
Required Experience and Capabilities
- Approximately 10 or more years of experience in business intelligence, enterprise analytics, strategic analytics, decision support, or a closely related discipline.
- A record of building or materially transforming a BI or analytics function, including its team, roadmap, governance, stakeholder model, and adoption.
- Strong business and financial acumen, with demonstrated influence across Finance, Operations, Product, Engineering, go-to-market, and customer-facing teams.
- Executive-level judgment and communication, including the ability to frame trade-offs, challenge assumptions, and turn complex analysis into clear decisions.
- Strong analytical judgment across experimentation, cohorts, leading indicators, predictive methods, causality, and intervention measurement.
- Experience recruiting and developing talent, establishing standards, and increasing organizational data fluency and adoption.
- A hands-on builder mindset suited to a scaling, high-growth environment.
Technical Expectations
This leader must be technically fluent but does not need to be the primary hands-on engineer. They should understand data models, semantic layers, SQL, BI tools, data quality, governance, and analytical methods well enough to evaluate work, ask incisive questions, set standards, identify risk, and partner effectively with technical teams. The strongest candidate may still query data or prototype when useful, but the roles highest value is setting direction, building the function, and translating intelligence into enterprise decisions, not personally owning production engineering or architecture.
Leadership Characteristics
- Mission-driven: Motivated by expanding housing access while building a sustainable, high-performing business.
- Enterprise-minded: Sees connections across the full renter, partner, product, risk, operational, and financial lifecycle.
- Influential and collaborative: Builds trust, clarifies ownership, and moves work forward without taking over functional execution.
- Pragmatic: Knows when to build rigor and when speed, judgment, and iteration matter more.
- Curious and courageous: Will pursue consequential questions, surface uncomfortable truths, and distinguish signal from noise.
Compensation and Benefits
OneApp offers a competitive executive compensation package commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the scope of the role. Salary and associated bonus percentage will be determined based on the selected candidates background and experience.
The role may also be eligible for an LTIP tied to the company achieving its goals. In a business continuing to experience exceptionally high growth, this creates the potential to participate in value creation based on sustained performance, not solely on a future exit.
OneApp offers a rich benefits package designed to support employees and their families, including:
- Unlimited paid time off to support rest, recovery, and a healthy life outside work.
- Personal wellness benefit that provides a generous monthly allowance that can be spent on spa time, concerts, yoga retreats whatever reenergizes and rejuvenates you.
- Flexible, hybrid work that enables employees to work where and when they are most productive.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families.
- 401K retirement plan.
- Meaningful participation in the companys success.
- Top-of-the-line equipment and software to support excellent work.
- A smart, capable, mission-connected team that wants colleagues, clients, renters, and the business to succeed.
