SUMMARY:This position is primarily responsible for managing the IRS federal tax audit including all communication with the IRS, tracking responses to information document requests, doing research and assisting tax directors with drafting responses and position papers, attending and documenting all meetings with IRS exam team members, among other duties. Additionally, this position will assist with the preparation and review of federal and state income and franchise tax returns and book-tax difference calculations/work papers and assist with managing the overall federal and state compliance team of approximately 7 intern, staff and senior level positions. Position requires a highly proficient tax professional with applicable federal and state income tax experience.
Additionally, this position will mentor and support the professional growth of tax accountants. The individual should have the ability to plan processes and develop procedures used for daily activities and provide guidance to others as needed.
Other responsibilities may include: assisting with the preparation or review of quarterly estimated tax payments; assisting with state income tax audits as needed; performing tax research; assisting with preparation or review of domestic transfer pricing entries, assisting with preparation or review of ASC 740 calculations or entries as needed, assisting with income tax accounting and disclosures as needed and other various income tax-related activities.
REQUIREMENTS: - Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required. Master's Degree in Accounting or Tax is a plus. CPA or currently pursuing certification is preferred.
- Experience: 7 plus years of progressive tax experience preferred
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with strong Excel aptitude; ability to efficiently learn and work with income tax preparation software, SAP and Microsoft Word; perform technical research using CCH BNA RIA or other tax research tools a plus.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask and quickly transition between assignments, good interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of varying tax experience, strong corporate federal and state income tax knowledge and a solid understanding of financial statements.
- Supervisory: 1-3 staff or senior level tax professionals
- Travel: 0 to 3 domestic trips per year.
