Position Description
Obelisk Real Estate Partners is looking to add an acquisitions analyst to its team who exhibits strong underwriting skills and passion for commercial real estate. The candidate will be critical in helping Obelisk continue growing its commercial real estate portfolio by leading the analysis and diligence process for new acquisition opportunities. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience in real estate acquisitions or real estate investment banking. Demonstrating the ability to critically review investment opportunities and work with the team through the investment committee process will be essential to the success of any candidate.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new acquisition opportunities in target markets (Carolinas, Texas, Florida, Northeast), primarily focused on industrial, flex, and retail in addition to multi-family properties
- Build/maintain financial models in excel, review leases, property financials, and third-party reports
- Perform investment due diligence
- Draft investment memorandums and perform market research, emphasizing finding trends in data to support investment thesis
- Perform targeted research projects on new investment strategies or acquisition targets
- Build relationships with market participants including leasing brokers, lenders, capital partners, etc.
- Assist in the asset management of portfolio properties
Qualifications
- Superior analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (experience in ARGUS is a plus)
- Familiarity with commercial leases and financial statements
- 1-3 years of relevant real estate experience (banking, investment sales, acquisitions)
- Prior experience with industrial, flex, retail and multi-family real estate asset classes
- Demonstrated track record of high achievement in demanding professional and academic settings
- Understanding of real estate transactions, equity capitalizations, and mortgage debt structures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, highly organized, motivated, energetic and independent with strong interpersonal skills
- Relevant/Excellent references
Other Details:
- Timing is immediate
- Compensation will be commensurate with the market and the individual’s experience
- Role expected to be in office five days a week in Midtown Manhattan
