Freelance Interior Designer (Chief Architect Experience Preferred)
About the Role:
House of Maevie, a boutique interior design studio based in the Triangle area, is seeking a part-time freelance interior designer to assist with design development, drawings, and documentation in Chief Architect. This is a 1099 independent contractor position requiring about 10 hours per week, with flexible hours and the potential for long-term collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with design development for kitchens, baths, and full-home remodels
- Draft detailed floor plans, elevations, and cabinetry layouts in Chief Architect
- Prepare and update design documentation sets for client presentations and contractors
- Support the selection and coordination of materials, fixtures, and finishes
- Communicate with the lead designer to ensure all design details are accurately reflected
Requirements:
- Degree or background in Interior Design
- Proficiency in Chief Architect (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Strong understanding of residential design principles and construction details
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently
- Based in or familiar with the Raleigh–Durham area (remote applicants considered)
Hours & Compensation:
- Approximately 10 hours per week
- Independent contractor (1099)
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience
