Product Engineer
We are a leader in the design and manufacture of luxury bathroom fixtures and fittings. We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our Engineering team.
Responsibilities:
· Develop products from concept to production meeting quality and schedule requirements
· Develop product specifications for new products (3D & 2D). Modify product specifications to support custom order requirements as needed.
· Work with Senior Project Engineer to collaborate with and direct CAD resources in China to support development of product specifications.
· Check product specifications to ensure fit and tolerances are correct.
· Develop part and product cost estimates to establish cost targets. Prepare, request and evaluate quote packages
· Work with Engineering counterparts to arrange for prototypes/ product samples.
· Work with Engineering counterparts to test and validate prototypes and product samples.
· Work with Senior Project Engineer to ensure product designs meet compliance requirements and coordinate compliance testing and certifications
· Collaborate with team to provide marketing samples and support development of marketing documentation.
· Work with Senior Project Engineer to create and maintain project schedules
· Manage all product documentation (3D models, 2D drawings, installation instructions, marketing specification sheets, Manufacturing BOM’s) using Solidworks PDM.
Skills and knowledge:
· Solidworks proficiency. Creo knowledge a plus
· Ability to prepare 2D drawings from 3D files that include the dimensions, tolerances, and notes/ callouts (materials, finish, assembly) necessary for manufacturing.
· Knowledge of PDM systems, preferably Solidworks PDM/ PLM
· Self-motivated and can work individually or collaboratively
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
· Excellent written and verbal communication including ability to effectively utilize email (Outlook or Gmail).
· Knowledge of processes used for the fabrication and manufacturing of metal components with an understanding of design limitations, guidelines, and best practices for cost effective design.
· Knowledge of cost drivers for estimating part and product costs.
· Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to assemble, test, evaluate, and validate plumbing fixtures. Knowledge of plumbing code principles a plus. Skill using machine shop equipment a plus.
· Broad knowledge of product development processes and manufacturing processes (understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles a plus).
Experience:
· 3-10 years professional experience using Solidworks to design parts/ assemblies/ products for manufacture along with relevant hands-on experience.
· At least 2 years of experience in plumbing
· Experience generating and managing product documentation
· Experience in product compliance.
· Experience working with extended team and suppliers overseas a plus
· Experience estimating part and product costs a plus
Education:
· Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
