IGS is expanding its TubeTech capabilities—one of our fastest-growing technology platforms—and we’re seeking an Applications Engineer who will play a central role in standardizing, scaling, and advancing these services across global operations.
This role is not client-facing, but it’s mission-critical to ensuring TubeTech innovations are consistently and effectively deployed in the field. You’ll work closely with experienced TubeTech subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture knowledge, create repeatable systems, and support rapid growth through standardization and process improvement.
You’ll help bridge the gap between engineering innovation and operational execution—turning expertise into standardized procedures, documentation, and scalable processes that enable IGS to deliver consistent, high-quality TubeTech services worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with experienced TubeTech SMEs to capture and translate operational knowledge into standard operating procedures (SOPs), loadlists, and technical documentation.
- Support the standardization and scalability of TubeTech service offerings across regions and projects.
- Assist in the integration of TubeTech innovations into operational systems and training materials.
- Participate in select field projects to observe real-world applications, ensuring documentation reflects best practices and lessons learned.
- Provide CAD support for moderate design, drafting, and documentation needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, linking field experience with process and design updates.
roject Planning
- Reviews quote and estimate with regional sales manager and / or estimator and ensures the sales to operations handoff is complete
- Generate project plan summarizing schedule of events
- Plan site layout per customer, work and safety requirements
- Communicate resource requirements
- Manage travel lodging and other personnel logistics
- Verify resource availability
- Request project equipment, materials and consumables
- Prepare, maintain, and control project management files and reports pre and post job
- Obtain required customer approvals and signatures
Project Execution
- Manage work to scope of contract
- Receive, control and secure equipment, materials and consumables on site
- Ensure equipment specifications and functionality
- Prepare and submit time and material sheets and billing documentation as needed per purchase order
- Prepare and submit per diem and other cash card requests
- Approve man hours on weekly time sheet for payroll
- Understand IGS health & safety compliance as well as customer/project specific compliance
- Monitor and control project costs in accordance with scope of work
- Ensure proper authorizations obtained for changes to scope of work
- Coordinate final inspection by customers’ and external inspectors
Equipment and Process Support
- Understand IGS product and service offerings and how they relate to solving metal wastage problems for customer equipment and processes
- Perform quality inspections, as needed, of the surface applications; analyze, communicate recommended solutions based on results
- Understand equipment operation and requirements for repair and maintenance
Post Job Execution
- Performs post project materials inventory and communicates results to accounting department
- Review and approve all project charges and total job cost
- Communicates project completion to accounting department and management
Sales and Customer Support
- Support sales and managerial team as needed during estimating process including attending pre-bid meetings and inspections
- Scope and sell additional project opportunities while on-site
- Collaborate with other IGS personnel for ongoing customer/account management
- General assistance with corporate, operational and/or administrative matters when not assigned to project work
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Extensive knowledge of all IGS equipment and processes and be able to provide solutions to customer specific needs
- Project management skills to coordinate, organize, plan and execute complex industrial projects
- Effective communications and interpersonal skills to supervise people and coordinate with others within and outside of the company
- High level of self-sufficiency and initiative
- Good computer software skills including, MS Word, Excel & Project software
- Open to new ideas and a team player
- Understand cost management and optimization of expenditures
- Ability to work in an industrial environment
Contacts:
- Frequent contact with technicians and all levels of management within the company
- Frequent contact with client personnel, including engineers and operations managers
- Occasional contact with regulatory agency authorities
- Contact with international cultures
Decision/Judgment:
- Decisions are guided by a general understanding of the company’s mission, vision, values, standards of operation and mutually determined strategies and objectives
- Full independence to make project-related decisions that are subsequently reported to operations management
- Extensive judgment is used to manage crew; must be responsible for resolving issues involving crew members in the best interest of the company
Effort/Working Conditions:
- High physical effort and high level of physical exertion is required for this position
- Job is performed in a challenging environment in various client facilities which includes but are not limited to refineries, paper mills and power plants in both the USA and International locations
- Difficult working conditions characterized by long hours with at least 12-hour shifts
- Challenging working conditions including exposure to hazardous materials, heat and cold
- Work on project sites is often performed in full personal protective equipment
- Must be physically able to move in and out of confined spaces
- 4 to 7 months of extensive travel, including international travel
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical or Industrial preferred) or 4+ years of related industry experience
- Experience with the operations and environments of power plants and petroleum industry facilities

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
