Role Overview
The Junior Investment Trader supports the Portfolio Manager in all aspects of daily trading and portfolio operations across equities, fixed income, and options. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, thrives in fast-moving markets, and wants to deepen their understanding of portfolio management and risk oversight in a high-net-worth investment environment. The position is execution-focused, with opportunities to grow through direct exposure to strategy discussions and investment decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute equity, fixed income, and options trades with precision and efficiency, ensuring compliance with order parameters and execution guidelines.
- Manage block trade allocations across multiple client accounts using WealthScape; maintain accurate trade records and reconciliations in Excel.
- Monitor markets, news flow, and company-specific developments relevant to portfolio holdings.
- Input and track limit and VWAP orders, maintaining awareness of liquidity and bid-ask spreads.
- Assist in options roll management and portfolio hedging adjustments, maintaining awareness of contract expirations.
- Coordinate and submit RFQs for fixed-income trades, monitor bond maturities, and ensure timely reinvestment across client portfolios.
- Generate and analyze daily portfolio reports.
- Maintain and update the firm’s CRM system to ensure accurate client trade, reporting, and communication records.
- Participate in periodic discussions around portfolio positioning and broader market themes as part of ongoing training under the Portfolio Manager.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong Excel proficiency and attention to detail; capable of accurate allocation and data management across multiple accounts.
- Familiarity with order management processes and trading mechanics (limit orders, VWAP execution, block allocations).
- Working knowledge of equity, fixed income, and derivatives.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment with high accuracy requirements.
- Self-starter eager to learn the full investment lifecycle from execution through research and risk management.
Qualifications
· 0–2 years of experience in financial markets or investment-related roles, or demonstrated interest in markets, trading, and portfolio management.
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related analytical discipline.
· Familiarity with equities, options, and fixed-income instruments, with a desire to deepen technical understanding through hands-on experience.
· Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy across all execution and reporting functions.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work collaboratively with the Portfolio Manager.
· Organized, reliable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Eager to learn, contribute, and grow into expanded responsibilities in research, portfolio management, and client servicing over time.

Entry-level to early career - execution and operations focused, with opportunities to learn directly from the Portfolio Manager and gain broader investment responsibility.
Work Environment
Hybrid role based out of Westport, CT, combining in-office collaboration with remote workdays.
